How to use it
- Enter your core courses: English, math, science, history (social science) and foreign language.
- Add electives only if they're AP, IB or AICE — UF leaves other electives out.
- Choose each course's level so the right bonus is added.
- Use whole letter grades. UF doesn't publish how it treats plus and minus, so this follows its stated 4.0 scale.
The formula
Recalculated GPA = Σ ((grade points + bonus) × credits) ÷ Σ credits
A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0; +1.0 AP/IB/AICE/dual enrollment, +0.5 honors/pre-AP/pre-IB/pre-AICE
Good to know
- UF reports a middle 50% weighted GPA of about 4.5–4.7 for admitted freshmen — that's this recalculated number, not your school's GPA.
- Dual-enrollment courses get the same +1.0 as AP under Florida Board of Governors rules.
- Course rigor matters: the recalculation rewards AP, IB, AICE and dual enrollment more than any other choice you control.
Questions
What GPA do you need to get into UF?
UF's admitted freshmen typically have a recalculated weighted core GPA between about 4.5 and 4.7. Admission is holistic, so GPA, rigor, essays and activities all count.

Yes. UF recalculates a core weighted GPA from English, math, science, history and foreign language courses, plus AP, IB and AICE electives.
Does UF count plus and minus grades?
UF's published rules don't say. This calculator uses whole letter grades on UF's stated 4.0 base scale.
